Breakfast with Solomon - Proverbs 26:14

"As the door turns on its hinges so does the sluggard on his bed"

One of the dangers and temptations of life is giving in to the impulses to sleep, nap, take it easy, rest awhile.

The person described here is a person who has given into these impulses so much they are like hinges on a door – locked in place, moving, but only in bed.

Everyone faces impulses to sleep longer. Most people who become sluggards try and avoid going to sleep at night but want to sleep late in the morning.

I was very encouraged one time when one of my daughters was cleaning up her room before she went to bed without being asked. I hoped and prayed that it was not to avoid going to sleep and then would want to sleep and not get up in the morning.

I saw positive signs that another daughter understood this verse as she quickly got out of bed in the morning and made her bed and started her day.

Until tomorrow,
