God Will Finish It

Some people charge into the morning. For others, mornings are difficult! Fatigue. Regret from yesterday. Do you sometimes wake up and have doubts about your ability to follow Jesus? Have you ever struggled with whether you will be faithful to the end of your life? The apostle Paul gives us tremendous words of encouragement in Philippians 1:6 where he writes, “And I am sure of this, that He who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ.” I find that empowering! First, Paul was confident that God began a good work in his own life. In Hebrews 7:25, the author writes, “Consequently, He is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them.” God began a good work in Paul by saving his soul and mapping out his journeys. If you know Christ, He has begun a good work of salvation in you. Remember, as you follow Jesus, your adventures have God at the center. Second, God will finish the good work He has begun in you. There are times in life where I want to throw in the towel. There are moments when I wonder if the struggle is all worth it. Then, God whispers through Paul, saying, “God will finish the good work He has begun in you.” God will finish it. His divine power has given you everything you need to live a godly life. In the “eleventh hour” of life, you can find peace in His promises. Remember, God started a good work in you, and He will finish it, even when you sometimes want to quit! A Prayer to Ponder Father, I admit my lack of confidence in You and Your ability to complete the good work of forgiving and changing me. Help me to remember who You are and how Your eternal power will see to and finish the good work You began. You started it, and You promised to complete it. Help me to believe that fully today. In Jesus’ name, amen. Some Questions to Consider God’s work in your life is certain but unfinished. What causes you to question whether God is working in your life?

Locate areas where God is clearly working. Ponder how you can build on these areas.

What are some obvious places where you have missed God’s standard? Is something getting in the way? If so, will you admit it and turn back to Christ? Pray that you will apply this concept and that you will be encouraged.
