Breakfast with Solomon - Proverbs 30:4

Proverbs 30:4

"Who has ascended into heaven and descended?

Who has gathered the wind in His fists?

Who has wrapped the waters in His garment?

Who has established all the ends of the earth?

What is His name or His son's name?

Surely you know."

This proverb is a series of questions designed to produce a growing awareness in the person reading and meditating upon these words that there is a world beyond this one, and there is a being dwelling there who wears this universe like a garment. This being we call God has a personal name. He has given that name to the Jewish people.

The idea of this proverb is to remind us of the fact that we are locked in a four-plus dimensional universe which we cannot escape, and that there is an outer world outside our planet and outside our universe that we were meant to have access to and in which our real life is waiting. It is this outer world – the Bible calls eternity – where God dwells. It is God alone who dwells in this outer world outside the limited wonders of this universe. We cannot go there without His help, and no one from this place has ever gone there and come back to tell us about it.

But thankfully someone from there has come here to tell us about it before He returned. Never forget that God so loved the world – this world – that He sent His only begotten Son to be the atoning sacrifice for our sins and betrayals of His trust.

Until tomorrow,
