Breakfast with Solomon - Proverbs 26:12

"Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him."

A person who is wise in his own eyes is someone who thinks they have it all together and do not need anyone else. This is a person who does not seek counsel or who does not seek help.

Wisdom is the ability to use knowledge and skill to choose the triple-win: a win for God, a win for others, and a win for ourselves.

To find this triple-win, it will almost always take outside information -- from books, people, Bible, experience.

To believe that you do not need any outside information to find the wise path will mean that you often choose poorly and do not find true wisdom.

A lesson here is that you cannot really enjoy life to the fullest on your own being unwilling to learn from others.

Until tomorrow,

Gil Stieglitz
