"In all labor there is profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty"
This section of Proverbs has a number of wise business insights that are clearly meant to help the farm family – the one who was running the family business. This particular insight aims at one of the common problems in all businesses or organizations: talk is cheap but real labor is the only thing that greases the skids of labor.
There are often grandiose plans and big talk but someone must actually do work. Someone must actually do something. It may be small or seemingly insignificant, but every day one has to DO something to move the pile forward.
Even if the profit is not evident, Solomon helps us realize when you actually do something, you have profited – either by directly moving the pile in the right direction or by your ability to do more labor or by preparation to move the pile in the right direction.
