Breakfast with Solomon - Proverbs 1:5

Proverbs 1:5

"A wise man will hear and increase in learning, a man of understanding will acquire wise counsel"

The message in this verse is that the person who is already recognized as a person who makes right choices and does not selfishly hew to his own way can gain enormous value from reading and absorbing the information in these divinely inspired passages.

There are experiences and observations and situations that are beyond what any one person can have experienced. These truths and insights can make a person more ready for whatever life throws at us.

There is another interesting point made in the first phrase of this fifth verse. If you are wise, then reading the Proverbs will make you wiser; but if you do not get anything out of the Proverbs, then you are not as wise as you suppose. No matter how wise you are or suppose yourself to be, there is always another level or series of insights waiting for you in this God-breathed book.

Until tomorrow,

Gil Stieglitz
