Breakfast with Solomon - Proverbs 6:5

Proverbs 6:5

"Deliver yourself like a gazelle from the hunter's hand and like a bird from the hand of the fowler"

This is the application of this whole section on making pledges, going surety, or even getting into debt. Just like a gazelle who had been caught would struggle with all its life to become free, so should the person who is in this unwise position.

You need to fight like your life depends on it to be free from the debt of this loan. This also means work hard; show that you want out of this arrangement. You may not realize it, but this is a life-and-death struggle. If you get on the wrong side of the credit struggle, it will destroy you.

One Christian financial guru suggests that a person get a second job until the debt is paid off. He takes the admonition of verse 4 seriously. Give no sleep to your eyes. His thinking is that until you are free of the debt, emergency measures are needed. Deliver pizza, sell something – with a guaranteed paycheck that can get the debt snowball rolling in the right direction.

Until tomorrow,
