Proverbs 7:8,9
"Passing through the street near her corner; and he takes the way to her house, in the twilight, in the evening, in the middle of the night and in the darkness"
This verse suggests that he is coming past her house or near her house repeatedly; he wants to be caught. He is being carried away by lust and enticed, and it will bring forth sin. Notice that he is passing through the street near her house – in the twilight – in the evening – in the middle of the night – in the darkness. Four different times he goes that way and then all of a sudden, BEHOLD a woman comes out to meet him. She knows that he has been coming by and then moves her sexual aggressiveness into high gear and she gets him.
You cannot take trips to be near sin and expect that you will not be caught by your own sin. It is not wise to see how close you can get to sinning. The proverb was written to wake you up to this natural tendency in all of us to try and get as close as we can to sin and then pull away. It won't happen. Give sin a wide berth; do not move into the path of sin at all.
The concluding advice from God on this proverb-parable is that we should not let our minds fantasize about what she will do for us and to us or any sin. If you mentally fantasize about doing it, you are over halfway to sinning. Also, the proverb says do not actually physically move into the paths that she treads. Don't go near her house. Don't be around where she is.
