Breakfast with Solomon - Proverbs 27:10

Proverbs 27:10

"Do not forsake your own friend or your father's friend, and do not go to your brother's house in the day of your calamity."

There can be a tendency to move in the direction of family when the real troubles come on you. This would be a mistake. Do not abandon an intimate friend when calamity strikes just because they are not family. A person who has been loyal to you and worked hard at overlooking your weaknesses and foibles deserves to have your loyalty in return.

It is friendship – often even over family – that will sustain you through the storms of life.

Until tomorrow,

Gil Stieglitz
