Breakfast with Solomon - Proverbs 6:11

Proverbs 6:11

"Your poverty will come in like a vagabond and your need like an armed man."

Remember that this verse is about the sluggard, the sloth, or the lazy person – the person who, like electricity, follows the path of least resistance. Whatever way is easiest is what this person wants to do. This kind of person will face the natural consequences of their easy choices. It is the hard choices that result in abundance, joy, and love. We have to be prepared to turn away from the quick, easy choice when it is presented, knowing that what comes with that choice is not good.

The end result of easy choices is poverty, lack of funds, need, and, thereby, really hard choices. Only when you make the hard choices to do your best and work hard do you eventually get the opportunity to enjoy the easy choices.

When you give in regularly to the easy choices, you will be forced by a strong authority to do something you don't want to do.

The result could be the reposition of the desired item, jail, fines, creditors, etc. Don’t give into the easy choice. Go after the righteous cause even though it may be much harder.

Until tomorrow,

Gil Stieglitz
