Breakfast with Solomon - Proverbs 5:13

"I have not listened to the voice of my teachers, nor inclined my ear to my instructors"

Everyone has those who tell them that they should not get involved with adultery and fornication. There will come a time when the person who gets involved in casual sex will regret the decisions that they have made.

Every teen has this rebel orientation to throw off the advice of their teachers, instructors, parents, and authorities. They want to believe that somehow the world is different for them. Somehow the same rules do not apply and passion really will be enough for all of life. It will not be enough.

Everyone has opportunities to betray the Lord and righteousness by slipping into a sexual relationship with someone who is not your spouse. This is always a mistake. It just feels right at the time. The few moments of passion and excitement will not recompense for the problems that are created.

There are some things that seem right but are not. Listen to the voice of God when it declares where the boundaries go. Unfortunately our society has decided to allow crossing the line of sexual faithfulness seem like no big deal. It is even promoted as something that you should do if you haven't. This is all a part of the world system that wants to blind your mind to the reality of God and His rules for a blessed life.

This proverb points to the conclusion that the old man who has pursued numerous pleasurable sexual encounters comes to – that real relationships are hard to come by and pleasure is not the same as intimacy. Caring and giving to those who you can trust is soooooo much better than selfish pleasure seeking. It does take discipline to say no to yourself and to your willing accomplice, but it is essential that you discipline yourself for a wise life – one in which your relationships are vital and real and not plastic and selfish.

Until tomorrow,
